            About Lake Mburo National Park

            The park got its name from a story about two brothers, one named Mburo and the other named Kigarama. They lived in the low-lying Savannah plains, which is why the area is usually called Kaaro karungi. One night, Kigarama had a dream that it was going to rain a lot, which would lead to floods and damage to their property. Kigarama told his brother about the dream, but Mburo didn't believe him. In African culture, dreams were important, so Kigarama chose to leave the area and go to the hills above, leaving his brother behind. The area finally got flooded and that made the dream come true. The flooding and death of Mburo and his land gave the area its name, and the hills were named after his brother Kigarama.All of these stories can be told to you on Lake Mburo tours.
